How to Fight and Win Against Jealousy
Jealousy is responsible for a lot of heartache in the world. A heartache that is chosen by us and isn’t necessary to have. It’s always a choice to embrace envy. It’s never a thing that we are forced to take, it’s a thing we absolutely must resist at its occurrence because it’s a normal human chemical reaction.
No emotion is wrong, it is what we decide to do with that emotion that can be wrong or damaging. We are not wrong for having jealousy emerge in us (for until we have our new glorified bodies, we live with the knowledge of good and evil), but it is our responsibility to not be consumed and dictated by it. It is essential to realize jealousy through self-awareness to immediately reject and annihilate it.
Overcoming Jealousy
We cannot win against jealousy when we’ve already embraced it because then it has already won, we win against it by not succumbing to feeling it. We acknowledge it as a prerequisite to making the intentional decision to say no to it. We can’t say no to it if we don’t acknowledge its emergence.
Self-control (from God’s Spirit) is the key to freedom of self.
Only we decide what happens within our inner being. We may not be able to control what emotions and thoughts come up because of our upbringing and subconscious mind, but we are in control of what happens with all that may come up within us when we are led by God’s Spirit. If we do not practice that self-control the lack of self-control will be manifested within us by the emotions and thoughts being in control of us and causing us to sin.
“Be angry and do not sin;”
Ephesians 4:26 ESV
The Importance of Self-Control
Without self-control, we feel emotions and thoughts and fall into anxiety, depression, and all the in-between. Self-control (through God’s Spirit) is the key to freedom of self. It is how we are able to fight and win against jealousy within us. It is not our fault that we feel and think the way we do because we did not have control over our upbringing. However, it is on us to choose the way forward with what occurs within us. A way that is for our benefit and good instead of our detriment.
Research says that 90% of diseases and illnesses are stress-related. I understand that (at some point) we are not in control of our outward environment, but the only environment we need to be in control of is our inward environment, and this will give us control over our outward environment.
Surely nothing can be worth diminishing our health. God forbid, but even if a child is sick, they’ll especially need us in good health for their sake. The point is, even our body and organs’ good condition may to a very high degree be solely in our control. Solely in the control of how we feel and think, not only how you eat and drink. Negative words are perceived as negative by our mind and thus by our body.
Resist being one with your emotions and thoughts.
So, any negative concept that we embrace can at a low or high degree harm our body. Remember it is not that they emerge that has an impact, it is only that we make them greater by immersing our being in them. Like swimming in a lake of waste, instead of just seeing a lake of waste.
Resist being one with your emotions and thoughts. Separate yourself from them. You are the one who thinks and feels them. They are not you, they only happen to you, so treat them as wanted or unwanted guests accordingly for wholesome well-being.
