True Definition of Meditation: Meditating on the Word of God

In this modern world, where people are spiritually hungry and unhygienic because they don’t understand what it means to be spiritual, meditation has been perverted into something that suits new age spirituality and a godless culture. Meditation has become emptying your mind, when it should be filling your mind with goodness (positivity and light) and truth.

The modern world misinterprets meditation for mindfulness by using meditation to not only make them feel present, but to make them feel quiet and peaceful, a peace that (evidently) isn’t real. They still have the mindfulness technique, however, if you have no peace, are anxiety-stricken, what atmosphere are you trying to be in by being mindful? Mindfulness becomes redundant and counterproductive because your internal reality isn’t conducive to why you need to be mindful, which is to feel the peace and joy within you instead of being driven by random thoughts.

The Results of False Meditation

With an unhealthy internal environment, people fill their time with entertainment and distractions because they (ironically) cannot afford to be still as that would make them manifest their (internal) emptiness—void of goodnesses like peace, joy, gentleness, etc. The mind is a powerful tool, it can convince you of about anything: you will think you are feeling peace because you’re feeling empty, and soon enough when you become accustomed to the emptiness (you are mistaking for peace), you will recognize the emptiness for what it is, a place needing to be filled (as it is emptiness), completely unaware that it is a place needing to be healed and that being how it is filled (with light and goodness).

In your unawareness and trying to fill the emptiness, you’ll drink alcohol a bit more, and have more random sex, become an workaholic, have depression and anxiety, fill your life with random people who don’t love you, the list goes on into exactly what the world has become as a whole, and that is because the world is completely void of God who is Truth, the only goodness, and the only light. Not to mention that all of these realities are happening while people have real-life trauma and pain that needs healing, and indeed, unhealed trauma is the inception of an empty life needing “filling”, though in truth, it needs healing.

The Importance of True Meditation

Instead of emptying an already empty vessel, meditation is filling yourself with the Word of God, the Word of Truth and Light. The world prefers things to not be specific but for one to be ever searching and not finding a definite truth. Nothing is more of an illusion than the absence of a definite truth. So yes, the Word of God and only the Word of God is what people should be meditating on. Meditating meaning pondering, thinking of over and over again, contemplating, living inside of, and living out the Word of Truth, which is the Bible, authored by only the Holy Spirit.

Emptiness comes from being disconnected with a Maker you need to be connected to. It is this Maker who gave you breath and life, and so in having breath and living without Him, you are constantly starving and dying a slow miserable death forever. He is the only life and the only light, just like a plant needing light and water (to not die of thirst), you cannot survive without God, and God is His Word.

Will You Starve Your Soul and Spirit?

How long can you physically go without water and food before it kills you? Spiritually, if you go without the food that is the Word of God and His living waters, you die for all eternity by not being in His presence and home when you physically die and because you are a spirit, spiritual death is dying forever as a result of not knowing God’s Word (and living by it) which is the same as not knowing God Himself (and thus Him not welcoming you home to Him because you are not family or even a friend).

It’s plain and simple you see. You are in the eternal image of God in being a spirit, you cannot truly die, but eternally being without God and His presence is being eternally in death and darkness, and that by God’s definition is death, for only He is life and light.
