Don’t Live in the Present, Live in Eternity Now
There is a life more important than this present life, and it is eternal life. As human beings are spirits, this makes our spiritual lives a true life more than this present life in the physical body and world. Though we are spirit beings having a physical reality, when this physical reality ceases, and that’s one thing we can be sure will happen, the spiritual life will be what is left.
The spiritual and physical worlds are opposites, yet parallel. Spiritual life is eternal, and the physical life is temporal. The human existing in both these realms is manifested by the universe being temporary, as living things (on Earth) and stars and galaxies are born and die, and as it is also unending and goes on and on.
The World and the Present Continuously Seize
The world will make you think it never ends, but it ends every day indefinitely for people who pass on to eternal life (or eternal death), and it will continue to end till it has seized for us all forever. So why live for the now and for the world when all of this has an expiry date for each of us personally, and for itself as a whole? Grab hold of eternity right now and be freed from temporal frustrations.
How to Take Hold of Eternity and Live in It Now
The present leaves you continuously for a new moment. Each new present moment is born only to die, and this cycle continues until life passes on. A present moment seizes being a present moment when it becomes a moment that has passed, and this is the only destiny of present moments till eternity. Being mindful is a holistic way of living your physical experience, it should not any longer be contained as being in the present moment. It is deeper than that, it is being aware and awake, not stuck in your present moment, but awakened to truth and eternity, and therefore empowering how you live your present moment.
In being mindful of eternity and having taken hold of eternity, you position yourself to live boldly and unchained to the temporal worldly frustrations and pleasures. Now, eternity is only in the hands of the Son of God, nothing or no one or no other “religion” or “god” has professed, claimed, and enlightened the world to eternal life but the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who God the Father gave us eternal life through, as the only Professor and Holder of eternal life.
“And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.”
1 John 5:11-12 ESV
Take hold of eternity by being conscious of eternity in your everyday living through being led by the Spirit of Christ. In doing this, living in the world becomes a means to an end as you understand that you are here for a short while and don’t have time to waste by not living your God-given purpose and fulfilling your God-given destiny. Fearing the Lord means fearing nothing and no one else. It is a superpower that strengthens you and directs you to be courageous. Fear only God, for only He is worthy and mighty beyond all things.
Eternal Life is Attained Now in the Present Life
When a life circumstance tries to swallow me up with worry and anxiety, I think of how the circumstance won’t matter or exist in eternity, and just like that, whatever negativity that was trying to chain me disappears to nothing. When I feel pressure, frustration, or a close family member’s words try to imprison me, I think of eternity (and the world being dead) and just like that, nothing in the present matters but the fact that I have eternal life and no one can take that away from me, as God has promised me that nothing will separate me from His love.
Eternal life is a superpower for the here and now. It is also only attained in this present time because how else can you get to it if you’re not on the road to it now, so much so that you’re as good as already there because you have awakened to it in your soul and spirit, and thus in your present life.
There is a spirit of truth, which is the Holy Spirit of the Father and Christ, and there is a spirit of error, which is that spirit that is an antichrist and disobedient to God’s Word, the Bible. If you believe in God, and that He created the sun and moon and all galaxies, then how can you not believe that He personally ensured the integrity of His Word?
How could the sun and moon still obey Him in being rulers of day and night but He can’t keep the Book He authored true and whole? It can’t be. With that said, believe in God’s Word, and live in accordance and obedience to God’s Word because God is His Word. Those who love God obey His Word. And all things work together for good for all those who love God. Indeed, they will be with Him forever.
