True success in life is being enlightened. In being enlightened, we are whole and complete without help from anything that isn’t sourced from our inner being; we are complete in the Spirit of God Almighty. In being enlightened, we are only our true self—our spirit. We are not made by what we have, what society says, or anything outside of us. We live an original existence that hasn’t been known before by thinking our own way and carrying ourselves truthfully to our spirit.

As a spirit who has a soul, which is the spiritual (untouchable) emotional and mental self, belongings cannot reach us because they are physical, so they cannot begin to suffice in being fulfilling for us. Possessions only satisfy eyes or our physical senses, and as eyes or the senses quickly get used to a thing, the thing depletes from precious to nothing. I think it logical to say the greater and pricier the possession the slower the thing, say a Rolls Royce, is reduced to nothing. Perhaps some things may tragically be depleted only on the deathbed.

What is fulfilling in life?

What is fulfilling for the human being is spiritual possessions that the hands can’t touch physically. These spiritual possessions are for the inner actual (spirit) self and owner of the soul and body. They are internal (spiritual) states of being that need to be intentionally inspired and sourced from within as opposed to inspired and sourced from without.

These spiritual possessions are such as peace, love, joy, kindness, patience, goodness, trustworthiness—integrity, gentleness, humility, self-control, self-awareness, wisdom, understanding—being enlightened, faith, hope, freedom, loyalty, courage, and stillness, etc.

Now, the magnificent Earth and universe are in the physical realm as well. But these physical possessions of humanity are not to make a human spirit whole, for they understand a human spirit is already whole. They exist to cultivate an environment that supports and maintains that wholeness. As opposed to manmade physical possessions that insinuate we are nothing without them.

You Make Possessions to Be Something, Otherwise They Are Nothing

Quite literally the world says to us, “You are somebody” when you have these physical possessions while it simultaneously implies that “you are nobody” if you don’t possess these belongings. The world is very real because we can see it, but nothing is as real as the thought you think that shapes the very world you see. That thought you can never touch. That spiritual reality in you is more real than the illusions of the world.

As spiritual beings, we need to be fed by spiritual food, which is these spiritual possessions, just as our physical body needs physical food to stay alive. Starving the spirit of its food is killing it, which then leads to an empty unfulfilling life. A life we can’t help but regret at our wit’s end. But fret not for we will not choose that road. We will desire being enlightened and reach being enlightened and satisfy ourselves with the Light. He won’t deny anyone who has a true desire for it.

Proclaim the desire for being enlightened by realizing the illusions of the physical world. Detach from these illusions by being aware of their insufficiency in satisfying the true self. That, yes, the physical body needs good shelter and water and food and an income, but the rank and status these things can come in do not pertain to the needs of who we are—a spirit.

For we are not our body, we have a body. And as not a body, we cannot live for and be fulfilled by the size and status of our house and the variety of the food we can eat. The things we live for and are fulfilled by can only be what reaches and feeds the spirit because that’s who we are.
